The 4th Global Conference of Overseas Vietnamese

The 4th Global Conference of Overseas Vietnamese and the 2024 Forum of Vietnamese Intellectuals and Experts commenced on the morning of August 22nd at Hanoi's National Convention Center. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended and delivered a keynote speech.
 

The conference this year centered around the theme of Overseas Vietnamese working together to fulfill the nation's development aspirations. The opening session took place on August 22nd, with additional discussions and meetings scheduled for the following days.


4 parallel sessions took place on the afternoon of August 22, including:
 

• Overseas Vietnamese and the Development of High Technology in Vietnam
• Overseas Vietnamese Businesses and Businesspeople Accompanying the Nation
• National Solidarity, Community Work, and the Role of Young Overseas Vietnamese
• Overseas Vietnamese - Cultural and Linguistic Ambassadors of Vietnam

“The year 2024 marks the 20th anniversary of the implementation of the Politburo’s Resolution 36 on overseas Vietnamese. This is an opportunity for us to collectively draw valuable experiences and lessons to elevate the work with overseas Vietnamese to a new height, in line with the country's development requirements in the new context, and to meet the legitimate aspirations of our compatriots,” Mr. Bui Thanh Son, the Minister of Foreign Affairs emphasized.

From approximately 4.5 million people in 109 countries and territories in 2016, the number has now exceeded 6 million living and working in 130 countries and territories. This year, the conference attracted the participation of over 400 overseas Vietnamese and entrepreneurs worldwide to discuss the latest topics such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors, and sustainable development, etc.

Representatives from Flamingo Travel actively participated in the conference, contributing valuable insights and engaging in discussions and expanding connections with overseas Vietnamese. Here, we had the opportunity to promote renowned destinations such as Hanoi, Ninh Binh, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, Phu Quoc, and Ha Giang, and received keen interest in our tourism products from delegates and overseas Vietnamese from countries like the Republic of Korea, Japan, Australia, and the United States.

The 4th Global Overseas Vietnamese Conference and the 2024 Forum of Vietnamese Intellectuals Abroad is a landmark event, signifying a new chapter in the relationship between the Vietnamese diaspora and their homeland. It underscores the vital role of overseas Vietnamese in shaping Vietnam's future. We hope that the conference will be a resounding success, serving as a conference for experts and overseas Vietnamese to exchange ideas about global and regional development trends, propose sustainable development initiatives, and expand the national innovation network.
