Bao Fusion – A new way to taste Vietnamese cuisine

A Taiwanese style bun has made overwhelmingly positive feedbacks from customers in Hanoi, bringing a new style of tasting Vietnam fusion food. The idea of Bao Wow was from a power couple Phan Nhu Long and Katie Taylor. They had the idea to start a food pop up kitchen during the short trip to Quy Nhon.

Long quit his job at Marriott and they set about creating what would become Bao Wow, beginning a period of feverish trial and error, trying and combining countless different ingredients into a unique creation. Long also soon realised that they couldn’t depend on the quality of bao dough ordered from suppliers, and began making their own (which is vegan).

After several informal tasting parties at their apartment with friends and family, Bao Wow popped up for the first time at the Spring Equinox event in March of this year, roughly one month after coming up with the idea. One could say it went as they sold out that day. The next day, they went to the Tay Ho Flea Market, and sold out there as well. This would become a very promising trend as they have never finished an event with any food left over.
