Itinerary: Ha Noi – Ninh Binh – Sa Pa – Ha Long Bay – Hue – Hoi An – Ho Chi Minh
 
ITINERARY
DAY 1 HANOI – ARRIVAL (-)
Upon arrival, welcome by the local guide at Hanoi airport, transfer and check-in at the hotel.
Note:  Rooms are available from 2pm.
 
In the afternoon, an orientation tour of the city to discover the capital including the Temple of Literature, Vietnam’s first university, built in 1070, Hoan Kiem Lake, meaning the “Restored Sword”, is one of the scenic spots in the city; and Ngoc Son Temple, built in the 19th century and beautifully situated on a little island in the northern part of the Lake.  By late afternoon, enjoy an hour - cyclo (rickshaw) tour through the Old Quarter. The first day will conclude with a traditional water puppet show, featuring sketches about the daily life and beliefs of the rural people.

DAY 2 HANOI – HOA LU – OVERNIGH TRAIN TO LAO CAI (B/L)
After breakfast, travel through the countryside to Hoa Lu, the ancient 10th century capital of Vietnam.
On arrival, enjoy a bicycle ride to Bich Dong Pagoda, a 15th century complex, and continue to Thung Nang pier.   Then, board on a small sampan boat for a spectacular trip through one cave and numerous waterways, passing through beautiful rural sceneries of limestone cliffs and rice paddies.
In the afternoon, visit Dinh Tien Hoang and Le Dai Hanh Dynastic Temples before traveling by road back to Hanoi.
In the evening transfer to the railway station for the night train to Lao Cai.

DAY 3 LAO CAI – SA PA (B/L)
Arrive at Lao Cai railway station early in the morning. Then, depart to one of the several minority markets in the region. Depending on the day of the week, the markets are operating in different villages. Meet various ethnic minorities who come to exchange not only their goods but also interesting everyday life stories from their own community.
In the afternoon, drive to Sapa and check-in at the hotel. Sapa is home to over 30 ethnic minorities and the highest peak of Vietnam, Mount Fansipan (3,143 m). The end of the day is free at leisure.
 
Note: Due to the early arrival in Lao Cai, we recommend travelers to book an extra day-use room upon arrival.

DAY 4 SA PA – SA SENG – HAU THAO – SA PA (B/L)
 After breakfast, start a new day full of meetings and amazing landscapes. Walk to Sa Seng village, located on a highland. Then continue through a pass to reach the village of Hau Thao to enjoy amazing panoramic views of the valley of Muong Hoa.
Picnic lunch at village before continuing on the trail along paddy field.
In the afternoon, return to Sapa by road.
Then, visit Cat Cat Village before returning back to Hotel in the late afternoon.

DAY 5 SAPA – LAO CAI – HANOI (B/L)
After breakfast, stroll through Sapa Market before heading to Thac Tien Waterfalls (1.3km walk) and stop at Tram Ton Pass to enjoy the breathtaking view.
 
After lunch, overland transfer to Hanoi via Lao Cai and Yen Bai (360 km, a 5-hours driving).
Arrive in Hanoi late in the evening.

DAY 6 HANOI – HALONG (B/L/D)
After breakfast in a local restaurant, travel by road to the majestic Halong Bay, listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
Arrive in Halong by midday and board on a junk for a memorable cruise through the mystical Halong Bay. Navigation between the karts, some of which display extraordinary shapes, if time and weather allow, stop for a swim in the jade-colored waters of the Gulf of Tonkin.

- Tour guide is not authorized accompanying with passengers on board the junk. During the cruising, assistance of local guide on board is at available.

DAY 7 HALONG – HANOI  HUE (BRUNCH)
After the breakfast, junk resumes its course. During the morning, it crosses the bay and stop to visit a natural cave.
Brunch will be served on board before returning on the coast around 11h00 and transfer by road to Hanoi airport. If time permits, stop to visit But Thap Pagoda, built under the dynasty of King Tran Thanh Tong (1258-1278). It is one of the finest pagodas in the country's north and known as Vietnam's first Buddhist center.
Flight to Hue. Upon arrival in Hue, welcome by the local guide, transfer and check-in at the hotel.

DAY 8 HUE (B/L)
After breakfast, leave the hotel by bicycle towards the ancient village of Thuy Bieu, long considered as a symbol of transition and harmony. Besides several well preserved communal houses, the nostalgic beauty of the gardens and remarkable architecture of the wooden houses, the village shows the daily life in the countryside combined with the royal heritage of the region. On the way, stop to visit the monuments closely tied to the rise and fall of the Nguyen Dynasty: the arena where tigers and elephants disputed incredible fights, a unique temple-cemetery dedicated to the loyal elephants of the King, and a surprising bronze. Finally, stop to offer respects to the dead in the pure Vietnamese tradition.
 
During lunch with a family, take the opportunity to immerse in the rustic life.
 
In the afternoon, discover the Imperial Citadel, the former imperial seat of government. This is a great sprawling complex of temples, pavilions, moats, walls, gates, shops, museums and galleries, featuring art and costumes from various periods of Vietnamese history.
Then visit the Thien Mu (Celestial Lady) pagoda, one of the most venerated sites in the city of Hue.

DAY 9 HUE – DANANG – HOI AN (B/L)
After breakfast, depart to Danang via the Hai Van Pass. On arrival, visit the Cham Archaeological Museum with an extremely rich collection, tracing the history of this lost civilization. Then, resume the journey to the port town of Hoi An, recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
Upon arrival, check-in at the hotel and the rest of the day is at leisure.

DAY 10 HOI AN (B/L)
After breakfast, pick up from the hotel to visit the famous Old Quarter of Hoi An. This is an exceptionally well-preserved example of a South-East Asian trading port dating from the 15th to the 19th century. Walk around Hoi An ancient town and explore its treasures. The buildings and street plan reflect the influences, both indigenous and foreign, that have combined to produce this unique heritage site.
Then, visit a lantern making cottage and learn how to make one.
In the afternoon, enjoy an excursion by boat on the Thu Bon River with a stop, along the way, at a traditional ceramic and carpentry village. The rest of the day is at leisure to enjoy the old city or the beach (if weather permits).

DAY 11 HOI AN – DA NANG  HO CHI MINH CITY (B/L)
 After breakfast, transfer to Danang Airport for the morning flight to Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon).
Welcome on arrival by the local guide then explore Ho Chi Minh City, the economic capital of the country. Visit the old colonial residential quarter, including the City Hall, built from 1902-1908 in a French colonial style, Opera House, built in 1897 by French Architect Eugene Ferret, the contemporary Reunification Palace (inside) and the elegant 19th century  Notre-Dame Cathedral. Then, stroll around the Central Post Office built, neoclassical architectural style, built in the early 20th century by Eiffel.

In the afternoon, visit the War Museum; it contains exhibits relating to the American period of the Vietnam War. Walk in the picturesque Chinatown "Cho Lon" which houses the Thien Hau Pagoda. The Pagoda was built in honor of the protective Goddess of sailors. From there, transfer for a stroll at the impressive Binh Tay Market and visit Giac Lam Pagoda, the oldest pagoda of the city. 
The day ends with a stop at a lacquer factory to learn the manufacturing process.

DAY 12 HO CHI MINH – CAI BE, VINH LONG – CAN THO (B/L)
After breakfast, drive to Cai Be in the heart of the Mekong Delta.
On arrival, embark on a sampan boat for a cruise on the Mekong River and its myriad of canals to Vinh Long. Visit an old colonial house and a rice popcorn factory.
 
Enjoy a tasting of local specialties for lunch, and then continue the journey to Can Tho, the largest town in the Mekong Delta.
Check-in at hotel and time is at leisure.

DAY 13 CAN THO – MY THO – HO CHI MINH CITY (B/L)
After an early breakfast, visit the vibrant Cai Rang floating market and witness the rural life and the beautiful vegetation along the riverbanks. This excursion to the arroyos leads visitors to a garden for a tasting of exotic fruits.
Then visit the Binh Thuy Ancient House, over 100 years old, and its peaceful surroundings. Observe the rural life and admire the lush vegetation along the riverbanks and discover Can Tho’s colorful market before driving back to Ho Chi Minh City.

In the afternoon, continue the journey to Ho Chi Minh City and stop to visit Vinh Trang pagoda. Arrive in Ho Chi Minh City late in the afternoon.

DAY 14 HO CHI MINH CITY – DEPARTURE (B)
After breakfast, the day is at leisure in Ho Chi Minh City.

The exception is Tet, the Vietnamese New Year - officially a three-day holiday but many businesses close down for a full week. LANGUAGE : The national language of Vietnam is Vietnamese. In big cities and in places with many tourists, people can speak basic English. As Vietnamese has six different tones, it is a difficult language for most foreigners to speak despite the fact that the Roman alphabet is used in the modern Vietnamese script.

Vietnam's weather varies greatly from north to south with each area marked by slightly different seasons and climates. Because of these regional variations, there are always pleasant and favorable areas to visit throughout the year. The north, overall, tends to be cooler than the rest of the country. During the winter from November till February, the day time temperature is cool and the weather often damp. Central Vietnam experiences warm weather from July to October and wet, colder weather from November to May. Although the temperature remains fairly steady throughout the year, Southern Vietnam has two seasons. The dry season lasts from December to May, while from June to November is the rainy season
