HANOI–OVERNIGHT TRAIN  /LAO CAI – SAPA – BAN KHOANG –TA PHIN /TA PHIN–SA SENG–HAU THAO–SAPA /SAPA–LAO CAI–HANOI 

D1 HANOI–OVERNIGHT TRAIN 
In the evening transfer to the railway station to catch the night train to Lao Cai. 
Overnight on board.
D2 OVERNIGHT TRAIN–LAO CAI –SAPA–BAN KHOANG–TA PHIN  (B/L/D)
Arrive at Lao Cai railway station early in the morning. Transfer by road to Sapa, a starting point for a nice hike in the mountains of northern Vietnam.
The day is dedicated to the picturesque landscapes of rice terraces and to meet ethnic groups on the trail or in the villages in a remote region.
In the afternoon, continue toward Ta Phin village home of a Red Dao community. Welcome by a family and settle at the home-stay, the opportunity to better understand their daily lives.
 
Full board and overnight in Ta Phin.
 
Note: Sapa is a town of altitude, it is not uncommon to experience temperatures below 10 degrees during the winter (November to February); only few hotels offer in-room heating. 
Note: Due to the early arrival in Lao Cai, we recommend travelers to book a day use room upon arrival.
Note: 15 Km hike (5 to 6 hours) – Difficulty: average

D3 TA PHIN–SA SENG–HAU THAO–SAPA  (B/L)
After breakfast, start a new day full of meetings and amazing landscapes. Walk to Sa Seng village, located on a highland. Then continue through a pass to reach the Muong Hoa valley and the village of Hau Thao to enjoy amazing panoramic views of the valley.
Picnic lunch at village before continuing on the trail along paddy field.
In the afternoon, return to Sapa by road and check-in at hotel.
 
Overnight in Sapa.
D4 SAPA–LAO CAI–HANOI  (B/L)
After breakfast, stroll through Sapa Market before heading to Thac Tien Waterfalls (1.3km walk) and stop at Traurion Pass to enjoy the breathtaking view.
Lunch at local restaurant and depart by road to Hanoi via Lao Cai and Yen Bai (360 km, an 6-hour drive).  
Arrive in Hanoi late in the evening.

Note: On Sundays there is a chance to drive to Bac Ha or Muong Khuong markets (or Coc Ly market on Tuesdays), to see the Flower H’Mong, Fula, Tay, Nung and other ethnic minorities. Supplement applies.
