HANOI – SAPA WITH THE MINORITY MARKET (HNRT-ST 9)

It's a tremendous tour dedicated to the trekking. You will be surprised by the diversity of the ethnic minorities who live in the villages with a communal house for each of them. In the Muong Hoa valley live the ethnic groups of Black H’Mong, Giay and Red Daos, who work daily every day to make fantastic rice terraces.

ITINERARY IN BRIEF
D1 SAPA–TAVAN–SEOMITY (L/D)
In the morning, depart to Muong Hoa Valley, where the most beautiful rice field terraces of Sapa are situated. This is the starting point of the trekking to the Giay minority village of Tavan. The first day will be mostly going uphill, to enjoy the full view of the picturesque landscapes down the valley.
In the afternoon, continue hiking along the road toward Seomity Village of Black Hmong minority tribe before reaching the campsite, located along the river bank of the village.
There is an opportunity to explore the surroundings or relax at the camp.
Dinner and overnight at the campsite.

Note: Approx:   30 mins of driving / difficult stage:  3 of 5 / 4-5 hours walking / 1 hour lunch break
Note: Sapa is a town of altitude, it is not uncommon to experience temperatures below 10 degrees during the winter (November to February); only few hotels offer in-room heating.

D2 SEOMITY–DEN THANG–TA TRUNG HO (B/L/D)
After breakfast, start the second day of trekking through the beautiful rice paddies. Then, cross the old suspension bridge. The trail winds through rainforest leading to Den Thang Village, home of the Black H’Mong minority tribe.
In the afternoon, the trek will become more difficult on narrow footpaths going up and down, which requires more alertness.
Arrive at Ta Trung Ho Village of the Red Dao minority tribe, which recently started to welcome foreign visitors.
Overnight in a communal house.
Note: Approx: 7 hours walking/ 1-hour lunch break

D3 TA TRUNG HO–NAM TOONG– THANH PHU (B/L/D)
After breakfast, take a short hike to the edge of the rain forest through Hoang Lien Son mountain range, the highest peak in Indochina which is 3,143 m above sea level. Continue trekking toward Nam Toong Village of the Red Dao minority.
In the afternoon, continue the path through the beautiful rice fields. Cross the bridge before walking downhill toward My Son, the village of the Xafo minority, also considered as the smallest ethnic group in Northern Vietnam. Finally, a short walk to Thanh Phu Village of the Tay minority tribe.

Overnight at a local house.
Note:  Approx:  6 hours  of walking/ 1-hour lunchbreak

D4 THANH PHU–BAN LECH– SAPA (B/L)
After breakfast, depart for a 2-hour trekking downhill to the Muong Bo River deep in the valley and crossing to the other bank. Then start trekking on a challenging and narrow path uphill for 3 hours to Ban Lech Village of the Red Dao minority tribe.
Visit the community before driving back to Sapa town.

Note:  Approx:  1-hour driving / 5 hours of walking / 1-hour lunch break

WHEN TO GO?

Vietnam's weather varies greatly from north to south with each area marked by slightly different seasons and climates. Because of these regional variations, there are always pleasant and favorable areas to visit throughout the year. The north, overall, tends to be cooler than the rest of the country. During the winter from November till February, the day time temperature is cool and the weather often damp. Central Vietnam experiences warm weather from July to October and wet, colder weather from November to May. Although the temperature remains fairly steady throughout the year, Southern Vietnam has two seasons. The dry season lasts from December to May, while from June to November is the rainy season
